Anna van Gerve

anna van gerve

The work of Anna van Gerve (1986) operates at the intersection of visual art and storytelling. In her paintings, drawings, and mixed-media projects, she explores how personal experiences, memories, and everyday observations can be translated into visual form. In her written work, she similarly investigates the boundary between reality and imagination.

Anna graduated in 2009 from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (Fine Arts) in Amsterdam and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Art History (2012) and a Research Master in Art Studies, specializing in architectural history (2014), at the University of Amsterdam. Her stories have been published in literary magazines such as Met Andere Zinnen, ANS, and hard//hoofd, and her articles have appeared in publications including Simulacrum, Cascade, and De Witte Raaf.

In 2017, she co-founded the design duo Kaplum with Alper Demir, where she continues to develop her artistic research into imagery and storytelling.
